Jigawa harps on affordable drugs for rural dwellers  – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

The Jigawa state government has planned to assist citizens at the grass root level to secure qualitative and affordable drugs from health facilities across the 27 local government areas of the state.

Most of the citizens, especially from the local government areas find it difficult to access drugs.

A release made available to our reporter Monday by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry for Local Government and Community Development, Mr Najib Umar, said the Commissioner for Local Government, Honourable Ahmed Garba, recently inaugurated the committee saddled with the responsibility of distributing palliatives and free drugs to citizens at the grass root level.

“The scheme under the leadership of Governor Umar Namadi, is to ensure every citizen in the state enjoys free, qualitative, and accessable health care services.

“Huge amount of money has been expended for the procurement of the items. Based on the confidence the present administration repose in government to ensure the drugs are utilised judiciously and transparently,” said the commissioner.

Also speaking, the Technical Adviser to the governor on health matters, Alhaji Isah Suraja, applauded the ministry and the commissioner for translating his promise into reality. 

He also appreciated Governor Namadi for considering health of the people as priority.
