President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas Ejezie, MON has debunked the rumour making the rounds that notable actor and one time President of the AGN Zack Orji has passed on. The rumour and then a viral report purporting that Orji had passed on trended during the week. It took a terse statement signed by the AGN President that the veteran actor was alive, for those circulating and sharing the ‘fake news’ to pull it down from the social media space. The AGN President had described the false news as ‘wicked and inhuman’. Rollas revealed that Orji who was hospitalised after he reportedly slummed on December 31, is alive and in ‘good health after he underwent two brain surgeries’.

The AGN President who confirmed that the actor would be flown out of the country by the weekend, said the actor only needed post-surgery treatment abroad and that they had already started putting funds together for the trip. ‘We are almost there in terms of fund raising. He should be out of the country for post-surgery treatment by this weekend’ Rollas declared. Reacting to the false news about the actor’s demise, Rollas said “you see because of the internet age, people just want to grow their page on the internet and they can spew nonsense.

That is why someone woke up yesterday and claimed that Zack Orji had passed on and I quickly reacted. Zack is never in a position to seriously need attention so to speak’. Continuing he adds ‘’if not because of privacy, I would have just connected him on the phone here to see him. He just needs a post-surgery evaluation abroad which we have been gathering funds together to send him abroad for that. He has survived two brain surgeries. He is in good health, he is talking, if I call him now, he will speak and all of that. For somebody to wake up and say Zack has passed on is inhuman. Zack is alive and only needs post urgery treatment abroad and he should be out for the treatment by this weekend.”
